How does travel mode work?

When you travel to a new country, your app will automatically welcome you with a widget tailored to your location. This screen provides you with quick access to relevant Revolut features based on your location (e.g. eSIM, nearby ATMs, and Split Bills).

This feature is based on physical card spend or, if enabled, your device's location. Basically, if you use your card in a new country or your location tells us you're somewhere new, it will activate travel mode. You can manage your location sharing permissions in your device settings.

Travel benefits and your Revolut plan

Your Revolut plan (e.g., Standard, Premium, Metal, Ultra) determines the travel features you have access to.

While all customers may see the location-based travel screen and receive the widget based on your location, access to certain features — like airport lounge passes or travel insurance — depend on your plan.

You can check your specific plan details in-app to see which benefits are available to you. To do so, go to your profile (tap your profile picture or initials in the top-left corner) and go to 'My Plan'.

When does travel mode appear?

The travel mode widget appears automatically when you arrive somewhere new and begin spending in a supported destination. If it doesn't appear, it may be for one of two reasons:

  • Unsupported country: the feature is currently only available for a select list of popular travel destinations. We are working to add more countries in the future
  • Location services are off or card wasn't used in new location: ensure you have enabled location permissions for the Revolut app in your phone's settings or, if location isn't enabled, use your physical card in the new country for the widget to show
