Offline transactions on Revolut Terminals
Offline transactions are card payments authorised locally instead of in real time with the card issuer. When you choose to enable offline mode, checks happen between the card and terminal — the terminal validates the card, checks its own rules, and then temporarily approves the payment.
Approved offline transactions are stored securely on the device and automatically sent for final issuer authorisation once the terminal reconnects to the internet.
What to know before turning on offline payments
Offline payments may have a lower authorisation success rate once sent for processing, and Revolut is not liable for any funds lost due to later issuer declines. Transactions must be submitted within 24 hours, so the terminal must reconnect to the internet within that time.
By enabling offline payments, you confirm that you accept these conditions under our Hardware Terms and Conditions.
Enable offline transactions
- Open the Revolut POS app
- Go to 'More'
- Select 'Checkout'
- Select 'Offline Payments'
- Turn 'Allow offline payments' on
You must confirm that the device must reconnect within 24 hours, that offline‑approved payments may fail once sent online, and that Revolut is not liable for any funds lost if the issuer later declines them.
You must also ensure eSIM is enabled and set or adjust the maximum offline transaction limit.
Offline payment transaction status
While offline, orders appear as uncaptured payments, showing how much time remains before the device must reconnect to send them for processing.
Once the device is back online, all offline transactions are reviewed and processed. Merchants can see each transaction’s status in 'Orders'. A banner indicates how many transactions have been processed and when processing is complete.
Accepted transactions will be processed as normal. Transactions appear as failed if they do not pass issuer checks or if they expire after 24 hours without being processed.
