Messaging pass

What is the messaging pass and how does it work?

The messaging pass is an included monthly eSIM data plan that provides 1GB of throttled-speed (16 kbps) internet access, suitable for text-based messaging apps like WhatsApp, Messenger, and Telegram.

Internet access is unrestricted. No apps are whitelisted or blocked. 1GB at this speed provides capacity for approximately 1 million text messages. It is available for use outside the EU in all countries supported by 1GLOBAL.

Can customers use it alongside a paid data plan?

Customers can hold multiple plans simultaneously. Data consumption follows a most-local-first priority: - A country-specific plan - A regional plan - A global plan

The included messaging pass follows the same priority rules. If a paid plan covers the same region, it will be consumed first. The messaging pass validity window continues to count down once activated regardless of whether data from it is being consumed.

Who is eligible for the messaging pass?

Customers must be on a Standard or Plus plan without any existing included data benefits (customers with Premium/Metal/Ultra who already receive included data benefits are excluded).

Additionally, the customer should have an eSIM-compatible device, should not be under any restrictions or sanctions, and should be located in a country that supports eSIM and is selected for the trial (currently Austria and Spain).

How does a customer activate and renew the messaging pass?

Customers can find the messaging pass through the Revolut app banners, push notifications, in-app search, the 'eSIM' section, or their 'Profile' page. Upon selecting the offer, they see plan details (coverage, data limits, and T&Cs) and confirm activation.

If the customer already has an eSIM installed, the pass activates upon confirmation. If not, they are guided through the eSIM installation flow first. The plan is recurring monthly but requires manual activation each month. It does not auto-start without customer action.
