Applying for a credit card

Eligibility requirements

To apply for a credit card, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or selected visa types
  • Be able to prove what you tell us such as proof of income and liabilities
  • Have a minimum income of $2,000 per month after tax (equivalent to $26,000 per year before tax)

As we're still in the process of launching Credit Cards in Australia, the option to apply may not be available to everyone just yet. You’ll be able to start an application if you see the credit card option in the Revolut app.

What you’ll need to apply for a credit card?

Credit card applications must be completed via the Revolut app. If you haven’t already, you'll need to download the Revolut app and complete the retail sign-up process by following this FAQ.

You’ll be able to start an application if you see the credit card option in your app. For new-to-Revolut customers, there may be a waiting period (e.g. 60 days) before you can apply for a credit card. Once a credit card application can be started, have the following details handy:

  • Personal information including your citizenship status, marital status, and living arrangements
  • Financial information including your annual household income, monthly living expenses, and employment details and status (if retired)
  • Details of any other credit cards and loans you have
  • Supporting documents

To apply for a credit card in Revolut app:

  • Go to 'Home' on the bottom menu
  • Below your balance, tap 'Accounts'
  • Tap 'Add new', then 'Credit'
  • Select 'Credit Card'
  • Fill out the short application

Checking your eligibility for a credit card won’t impact your credit score. If you choose to proceed with your application, we’ll record a credit enquiry with the credit reporting body, Experian.

How long will it take?

You may be able to receive an outcome right away. Sometimes our team need to review your application. If we need more information, we'll contact you through in-app chat, and any additional documents can be submitted there. We typically aim to get in touch with you within 2 business days.

If you're approved, you'll need to finalise the process by viewing the offer, accepting the offer, and signing the contract digitally in the app.

Your virtual card should be available for use right away and you can choose to have a physical card with zero delivery fee for the first credit card.
