Trading value limits

Minimum order value

The minimum order value is $1.

Maximum order limit

Buy orders

You can place an order up to a maximum $100,000 for stocks and ETFs, or up to 50,000 shares in the case of stocks if they're worth less than $100,000 in value at any one time.

Sell orders

You can place sell orders up to a maximum of $1,500,000 or up to 50,000 shares if they’re worth less than $1,500,000 in value at any one time.

For example, you can buy $100,000 worth of a stock and then immediately buy another $100,000 worth of the same stock. However, if the $100,000 is for less than 50,000 shares each time, you can't buy $101,000 worth of stock.

These limits can be bypassed in the case of closing out a position (selling 100% of a stock), up to a hard limit set by the broker of $1,500,000 or 50,000 shares. To learn more about closing a stock position, go to this FAQ.
