Who can open a Basic account?

Eligibility criteria

Basic accounts can be opened by customers that don't already hold an account with another credit institution in Belgium. You may also be eligible if you currently hold an account with a bank in Belgium, but have received a notice that it will be closed.

If you change to any of our non-Basic account memberships (for example, you upgrade to any of our paid memberships), you'll no longer have access to your Basic account or any of its specific features. Also, you won't be able to convert back to the Basic account later.

What if I’m rejected for a Basic account?

You'll need to meet all ‌the eligibility requirements on this page. Otherwise, your application will be automatically rejected. If you don't agree with this decision, you can refer to our Complaints Policy. You can also open a dispute with either of the below bodies.
