Disruptions to adding money with Visa cards
What changes are being made by Visa?
From 1 February 2025, Visa will require that Revolut sends additional information to your card issuer when adding money to your account.
This additional information will be processed by your card issuer to complete verification checks, which assist in protecting your money.
Unfortunately, there are a small number of card issuers that aren't currently able to process this additional information. As a result, we expect that these card issuers may decline attempts to add money with a card issued by them.
Can I still use a Visa card to add money to my account?
You can still add money using a Visa card. The vast majority of banks already support these new requirements and Revolut already sends this additional information. Attempts to add money with cards from banks that already support this process won't be impacted.
If you do try to add money using a card that doesn't support the new requirements, you may have difficulty:
- Adding money to your account through a card saved in-app
- Adding money to your account via Apple Pay or Google Pay
- Adding money using a payment link
Which card issuers could this impact?
We expect to see the following card issuers decline attempts to add money:
- HSBC UK BANK PLC
- HSBC BANK MALTA PLC
- SOCIETE GENERALE S.A
- BNP PARIBAS FORTIS NV/SA
- HSBC BANK PLC
- ZUERCHER KANTONALBANK
- NATIONAL AUSTRALIA BANK LIMITED
- BANK POLSKA KASA OPIEKI S.A. (BANK PEKAO SA)
- DEUTSCHER SPARKASSEN- UND GIROVERBAND
- ST. GEORGE BANK LIMITED
- ING BANK (AUSTRALIA) LIMITED
Other ways to add money to Revolut
You can continue to add money with Mastercard, and other methods of adding money (such as bank transfers) as usual. Learn more about other deposit methods.
What is Revolut doing about this?
Revolut is actively monitoring the situation, and working closely with our partners at Visa to resume card deposits as usual, and as soon as possible, across impacted card issuers.
If your attempt to add money with a Visa card is declined, we recommend that you try again at a later date.
