Failed payment on Tap to Pay on iPhone

The performance of contactless cards can vary based on the card design, for example, depending on the card material or the location of the antenna. As a result, some cards connect more easily than others.

Trouble accepting ‌a contactless payment

  • Ask the customer to hold their contactless payment card directly on top of your iPhone, lining the chip up with the edge of the tap area for several seconds
  • If the card still doesn't read, ask the customer to slide the chip directly over the notch on your device
  • Ensure that the Revolut Business app and phone are on the last iOS version
  • Confirm you have accepted the Tap to Pay on iPhone terms via Apple Business Connect

If your iPhone says ‌'Try a different card'

This means the customer's card isn't supported. Revolut supports payments from Mastercard, Visa, and American Express debit and credit cards, as well as Apple Pay, Google Pay, and other digital wallets.

To use Tap to Pay on iPhone, you must have 'Create in-store payments' permission assigned to your profile. Ask your business owner or account admin to assign the correct permissions to your profile.

The payments are not accepted

  • Your customer’s bank has refused the transaction. Ask them to try again with a different card
