Why was my account closed?

Account closure

We may close or suspend your account (and restrict your access to our services) in certain circumstances.

Reasons for account closure

We may close or suspend your account immediately (and restrict your access to our services, like Trading, Crypto, and Precious Metals), in exceptional circumstances.

Exceptional circumstances include the following:

  • We have reason to suspect that you're behaving fraudulently or otherwise criminally
  • You haven't given us (or someone acting on our behalf) any information we need, or we have reason to believe that information you've provided is incorrect or not true
  • You've broken these Terms in a serious or persistent way and you haven't put the matter right within a reasonable time of us asking you to
  • We have reason to believe that your use of the Revolut app is harmful to us or our software, systems, or hardware
  • We have reason to believe that you continuing to use your account could damage our reputation or goodwill
  • You behave in a disrespectful or abusive way to our Support or other staff, for example by harassing or insulting staff members or using offensive language while communicating with them
  • We have asked you to repay money you owe us, and you haven't done so within a reasonable timeframe
  • You've been declared bankrupt
  • We have to do so under any law, regulation, court order, or ombudsman's instructions

For an expansive list of reasons why your account may have been closed by Revolut, you can refer to section 24 in your account’s Personal Terms.

Can I open another account?

If your account was closed by Revolut for reasons we shared with you, it won't be possible to open a new Revolut account in the future.

Restricted accounts

Sometimes, when your account is suspended, it might seem like it’s closed or not functional. To learn more about restricted accounts, visit this FAQ in our Help Centre.
