Why can't I make Swiss QR code payments?

QR code is not scanning

A QR code may not successfully scan for one of these common reasons:

  • The QR code which you have received may not follow the standards laid out by SIX
  • Such QR codes can't be used for bank transfers

You can request the recipient or biller to send a corrected QR code. Alternatively, you may enter the recipient's bank account details manually and complete the payment.

Unable to add recipient

  • The details picked up from the QR code might be invalid (e.g. invalid IBAN or SWIFT code, missing recipient address)
  • If the required details are invalid or missing, you can't add the recipient
  • You can request a QR code with valid details from the recipient or biller
  • You may enter the recipient's correct bank account details manually and complete the payment

Payment isn't going through

  • If the recipient details have been added and the payment is not going through, your account may not be able to complete the payment
  • Your account may have insufficient balance to make the payment
  • The transfer may be blocked as a security measure to protect you from suspicious transactions
