Why does Revolut delist tokens?
Possible reasons include:
Regulatory/Compliance issues
If a token is found to be in violation of regulations (e.g. sanctions, deemed to be a security etc.), it may be delisted.
Insufficient liquidity
Tokens with low liquidity (e.g. tokens with low trading volume on a daily basis) present risks to customers and the exchanges (such as high volatility and slippage). Both we and our partners have established liquidity requirements for tokens; if these aren't met, we might have to stop supporting the affected tokens.
Tokens with very low value
These tokens are susceptible to price manipulation, which is a risk we can't tolerate.
Other reasons can affect the viability of a token in the long run, such as security vulnerabilities or negative news (e.g. fraudulent or unethical behaviour by the team supporting the token).
Although it's uncommon to delist a token if our partners still support it, this can nevertheless happen for various reasons, including:
- If the liquidity provided by our partners isn't sufficient, according to our requirements;
- If our risk assessment exceeds the risk tolerance we have on a particular token;
- Regulatory reasons specific to a jurisdiction we operate, even if our partners support it in other (or the same) jurisdictions.
