SWIFT transfers

What are SWIFT transfers?

The Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) system is one of the world's largest financial messaging and international payment networks that provides secure transactions across borders.

In the Revolut Business app, you can send and receive SWIFT payments in just a few taps.

Here are some important things to note about SWIFT transfers:

  • Make sure the transfer is sent from a supported country and in a supported currency. You can learn more in this FAQ
  • When transferring money internationally, some banks may require an 11-digit BIC/SWIFT code. You may need to append 'XXX' to your BIC/SWIFT code, for example, REVOLT21 becomes REVOLT21XXX
  • If the sender has issues entering your account details, you can share your in-app account confirmation statement and advise them to contact their external bank’s customer support, if needed
  • Your intermediary BIC can be found in the ‘Account details’ tab, under 'International'
  • SWIFT transfers can take up to 5 business days, and exceeding your international transfers allowance limit incurs a £5 (or currency equivalent) charge. You can learn more on our Business Fees page

Transaction limits for each currency will be displayed in-app before you send money.

If you have any issues receiving a transfer, please ask the sender to contact their bank for assistance. For issues with completing a transfer, visit this FAQ in our Help section.
