Why does Revolut delist tokens?
Possible reasons are:
- Regulatory/Compliance issues: If a token is found to be in violation of regulations (e.g. sanctions, deemed to be a security etc.), it may be delisted
- Insufficient liquidity: Tokens with low liquidity (e.g. tokens with low trading volume on a daily basis) present risks to customers and the exchanges (such as high volatility and slippage). Both we and our partners have established liquidity requirements for tokens; if these are not met, we might have to stop supporting the affected tokens
- Tokens with very low value: These tokens are susceptible to price manipulation which is a risk we cannot tolerate
Other reasons can affect the viability of a token in the long run, such as security vulnerabilities or negative news (e.g. fraudulent or unethical behaviour by the team supporting the token).
Although it's uncommon to delist a token if our partners still support it, this can nevertheless happen for various reasons:
- The liquidity provided by our partners is not sufficient per our requirements
- Our risk assessment exceeds the risk tolerance we have on a particular token
- Regulatory reasons specific to a jurisdiction we operate, even if our partners support it in other (or the same) jurisdictions
