Tax exemption or refunds from Instant Access Savings

Tax exemption or refunds

You can save on taxes by setting up a tax exemption order (Freistellungsauftrag) to Revolut. An exemption order prevents automatic tax deductions.

We only offer one tax exemption allocation up to €1,000 per individual.

How to set up a tax exemption

  • Go to 'Home' on the bottom menu of the Revolut app
  • Below your balance, tap 'Accounts'
  • Select 'Savings & Funds'
  • Tap 'Instant Access Savings' (choose the correct account if multiple)
  • Tap 'Info' and 'Tax exemption'
  • Enter the amount to exempt (up to €1,000 per individual) and the year of validity
  • Tap 'Submit'

Exemption orders are valid from 1 January to 31 December of the selected year and must be submitted again each year. You can only set up or change an exemption once your tax details are fully verified via the BZSt/BOP portal.

If you submit or increase an exemption during the year, any tax already withheld (up to your allowance) will be automatically refunded. If you don’t see the tax exemption option in the app, it usually means your tax details are still being verified by the central tax portal.

Personal tax responsibility

If you have any questions regarding your tax responsibilities, you should seek independent advice from a professional tax advisor.
