Bulk product import with CSV

Bulk upload lets you add multiple products simultaneously using CSV files. This saves significant time when launching large catalogues, letting you manage product data efficiently across hundreds of items.

Preparation before import

Create all necessary tax rates and modifier sets in your system first. This ensures your CSV template includes correct headers and proper modifier mapping. Then download the template, go to 'Product', 'Bulk Import' and 'Download template'.

Test by manually creating a couple of products with modifiers and variations, then export it as a CSV to understand the required format and structure. Review your exported template carefully, it shows all available columns for your specific setup.

CSV template population

At minimum, include product name, category name, and price in your CSV. Populate each row with a product.

For products with variations, use 'Variation set' to indicate the category (e.g. size) and 'Variation' to specify each option (e.g. small, medium, large). Each size becomes a separate row. In the 'Default' column mark 'Y' for the variant that will appear as default, and 'N' for the others.

Modifiers availability must be clearly specified for each product row in your CSV file. For example for coffees, set 'Milk' to 'Y' since customers choose their milk type (dairy, oat, almond). Set unrelated modifiers like 'Salad dressing' to 'N'.

Uploading and finalising

Once completed, upload the CSV file under 'Upload file'. Review and fix errors in the original file if necessary.

Review all product details in the preview screen, checking prices, modifiers, variations, and categories. Bulk import adds new products only and does not update or modify any existing products already in your system.

Click 'Save' to finalise and add all products to your catalogue.
