What is a preauthorisation for my booking?
When will my card be pre-authorised?
For 'pay at property' bookings where the payment is taken by the property, the property might pre-authorise your card.
What is a pre-authorisation?
When you make a 'pay at property' reservation, you'll need to provide your card details to confirm it. There may be instances where the property will contact us to ensure the card you're using is valid and hasn’t been reported lost or stolen. This is communicated in the form of a pre-authorisation transaction. This pre-authorisation transaction is just for validation purposes, and no money will be taken from your account. Pre-authorisations are common but are often confused with actual charges. While in-store purchases are immediately charged and deducted from your available balance, pre-authorisations are temporary holds. The length of the hold will vary.
