What's the probative value of my expenses receipts?
When you upload a receipt to an expense, we digitally archive it. This is one of the requirements for the digital copy to have the same value as the original paper receipt.
Probative value for your receipts
Probative value refers to the legal weight and evidential strength of a document.
When your receipts have probative value, they can be accepted as valid proof of transactions for accounting, tax audits, and other legal requirements.
French tax authorities requirements for receipt digitisation are available on the Legifrance website.
Digital archiving of receipts
You can upload receipts in JPG, PNG, and PDF formats. If you upload a picture (JPG or PNG), we automatically convert it to PDF.
We then apply an electronic seal (eSeal) to the PDF. This eSeal uses a certificate that adheres to the eIDAS (electronic Identification, Authentication and Trust Services) regulation, a European standard ensuring the legal recognition of electronic seals.
- When receipts are eSealed, an info icon appears next to 'Receipts' on the expense page
- You can export your eSealed receipts at any time from our web app
- If you have an integration with any accounting software, the sealed receipts will be exported automatically
