How are currency exchange fees shown in the Statement of Fees?
Where you made an international payment, a debit card payment or withdrew cash from an ATM in a currency other than your base currency and you already converted the relevant amount of that currency so it was available in your Revolut account, then the applicable fee will be shown under the heading for the type of transaction. So if you made an international payment via SWIFT in USD but you already had sufficient USD in your Revolut account, the fee you were charged for that payment will be shown under ‘Payments sent via SWIFT (USD)’ only.
If you made an international payment, a debit card payment, or withdrew cash from an ATM in a currency other than your base currency but you did not have the right amount of that currency already available in your Revolut account, then you may have been charged for the currency conversion in addition to any fee for the payment transaction itself. You will have been charged the currency conversion fee if you are or were on a Standard or Plus plan and you exceeded your free allowance of currency conversion in which case we will have charged you a currency exchange Fair Usage Fee. You will also have been charged if you made a payment transaction involving a currency conversion on the weekend or the conversion involved an exotic currency - this applies whether you are or were on a Standard or paid plan. We refer to this as a currency exchange markup fee. To see what fees were charged in relation to these transactions please refer to the relevant row for the type of transaction (e.g. ‘payments (excluding cards)’ for international payments) as well as the currency conversion rows in the ‘General account services’ section of the Statement of Fees for the currency conversion element.
For more information on the fees in relation to currency conversion, please refer to our fees pages.
