Card verification and pre-authorisation

Card verification

When you add a new card to a payment service like PayPal, Google Pay, or Apple Pay, the payment processor may initiate a small transaction to verify your card details. These verification transactions usually charge nothing or a very small amount (a few cents). They also revert back to your account once your card has been verified by the payment processor. You can check the reversal date in-app by tapping the transaction. The reversal date is in the 'Status' section. These transactions will appear as 'Card Verification' in your app.

Pre-authorisation

A pre-authorization is a temporary hold on your card, often used by hotels or car rental companies to ensure sufficient funds. We can’t cancel a pre-authorisation hold from our side. It can only be lifted when the authorization expires or if the merchant releases the funds. If there's a duplicate transaction, contact the merchant to resolve it.
