What currency will I be charged in?

How Revolut determines the currency you are charged

Revolut automatically converts your balance to the currency you're paying in, so there's no need to buy or exchange currency before your trip.

When you make a payment, we'll check your currency balances in the below order (and will complete the transaction in the first currency that has enough funds to complete the transaction):

  1. Transaction currency
  2. Your base currency (HUF)
  3. Next active currency with enough balance

We won’t combine multiple currencies to complete a transaction. Read more about our exchange rates in this FAQ.

How to control the currency used for a transaction

  • Deactivate a currency account. Swipe left on a currency account to deactivate the account. This will prevent any funds from being used for any transaction type. Read this article to learn more

Declined transactions

The transaction will be declined in the following scenarios:

  • Insufficient funds in a single currency to cover the transaction amount plus fees
  • Insufficient funds in the currency assigned to the card
  • Normal decline reasons, unrelated to the currency — read more in this FAQ
