I can't send a transfer or create a recipient

Possible reasons for failed transfers

  • Compliance reasons: Revolut must complete necessary checks in accordance with RBI regulations to validate the security of the transfer process
  • Locked or unverified account: If your account has restrictions or your KYC is incomplete, transfers may be declined.
  • Insufficient balance
  • PPI wallet balance limit exceeded: The recipient's cumulative INR balance (including INR pockets) cannot exceed ₹2,00,000.
  • 2FA authentication failure: If 2FA (device + SIM binding and Revolut passcode/Face ID) is not completed, the outbound transfer will fail

If the transfer failed, the funds haven't left your account and should be available instantly. No reversal wait is needed.

Problems with the recipient account or details provided

  • Unsupported recipient: We're unable to make transfers to certain recipients. This includes cryptocurrency exchanges and transfers outside India from the PPI account (cross-border transfers are not allowed from the INR PPI wallet)
  • Incorrect recipient details: If the recipient's bank account number or IFSC code don't match, the recipient's bank may reject the transfer via UPI
  • Invalid UPI ID: The app validates UPI IDs with NPCI before processing. An invalid or deactivated UPI ID will be rejected
  • Recipient account closed: The bank account you're transferring to may be closed. Verify that your recipient's account details are up to date
  • Beneficiary limit reached: You can add a maximum of 20 bank beneficiaries per day. If you've hit this limit, try again the next day

I can't create a recipient

If you're having difficulty creating a recipient, check the most common reasons (and solutions) below:

  • Account number is invalid: Reach out to the recipient to double-check their bank account number. India bank accounts typically have 9–18 digits depending on the bank
  • IFSC code is invalid: Verify the 11-character IFSC code (e.g., SBIN0001234) with the recipient.
  • UPI ID not found: The UPI ID entered may be inactive or incorrectly typed. Confirm the correct UPI ID (format: username@bankhandle) with the recipient
  • Beneficiary daily limit reached: Only 20 new bank beneficiaries can be added per day. Wait until the next day to add more
