Eligibility to open a Merchant account
Active Business account
To open a Merchant account, you'll need to have a verified, active Revolut Business account.
Supported countries
To open a Merchant account, your Business account must be opened in one of the following countries:
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland,
Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom
Requirements for payment methods and integrations
- In-person transactions: you don't need to have a website to be eligible for these payment methods once you set up your Merchant account
- Online transactions: you need to have an online presence, but you don't need to have a functional ecommerce website for this. You can have a regular website, Facebook page, LinkedIn profile, Instagram profile, Google Maps listing, etc.
- API and Plugin integration: you need to have a fully functional website and might need to provide proof of ownership
Nature of business
If proof of an online presence is requested, it needs to present your single distinct nature of business and business name.
A nature of business is a short summary of the kind of service you provide as a business. Businesses with multiple business lines, like a retail seller that also provides legal advice, are ineligible for a Merchant account.

- If you’re asked to provide additional information about you or your business, go to Merchant and click the banner that requires information. This information can include financial statements, past invoices, proof of ownership of your website, operating licences, etc.
- If your nature of business falls under our list of restricted business models, you'll be asked to provide supporting documentation to be reviewed by our team. Your business can only be onboarded with one nature of business
- If your nature of business falls under our list of prohibited business models, you won’t be able to open a Merchant account
