Getting an Italian IBAN
At Revolut, we've launched our Italian (IT) branch, and account migration for customers residing in Italy is being carried out in phases. Once complete, customers will receive an IT IBAN. This will allow customers to:
- Receive their salary directly into their Revolut account
- Make payments via Direct Debit and pay utility providers
- Avoid additional paperwork often required for non-Italian IBANs when using their Revolut account for other purposes
Eligibility criteria
To have your account migrated to the Italian branch, you need to meet some specific requirements. For example, you'll need the required documentation and your country of residence must be Italy. You won't be migrated until you meet these criteria.
Migration process
We'll migrate customers gradually and in phases. We'll notify you via email once your account becomes eligible for migration, along with further instructions.
The migration will proceed once you provide the necessary information in accordance with local regulations. We'll provide detailed instructions at each step of the process.
You may need to provide additional documents or information as part of the regulatory requirements of your local branch. This is to make sure we're complying with local laws and regulations.
Key information
- Bank card usage: Your current card will remain fully functional after migration — no replacement is needed
- Irreversible choice: Migration is final once customers opt in
- Opt-in timeline: There's no set deadline. Once the option becomes available, you can opt in at any time via the app. You'll receive notifications when it's possible to migrate
Recurring payments
Even after receiving your new IT IBAN, your old LT IBAN will still be operative for at least 12 months for your current Direct Debits and inbound payments. However, your account will be fully migrated to the Italian branch, making the new local IT IBAN the primary identifier for your account.
