Managing Kitchen Display System (KDS) in Revolut POS
A Kitchen Display System (KDS) digitally replaces printed tickets, showing live orders from the Revolut POS app on a kitchen screen to streamline communication between staff. It’s set up directly in the POS app — no extra installation or web portal setup needed, just switch the device to KDS mode.
This feature is not available on the Android app at this time.
Activate Revolut POS KDS mode
- In the POS app, tap 'More'
- Select 'Settings'
- Tap 'Device mode'
- Choose 'Kitchen Display System (KDS)' and tap 'Update'
- The device will then switch to KDS mode and opens the KDS home screen
To switch back to POS mode:
- Go to 'Settings' then 'Device Mode'
- Select 'Point of Sale (POS)'
- Tap 'Update' to return to the POS register screen
Revolut POS KDS settings
A KDS device shows all orders by default, but you can filter by product category to display only relevant items for each station. To do this, go to 'Setting' and 'Station Ticket Routing', select the categories for that station, and 'Save'. Only those products will appear on its screen.
You can customise what appears in the header of station tickets by selecting 'Customise station ticket' in settings. Modify fields like 'Order ID', 'Table number', 'Staff name', 'Fulfilment type', and 'Pickup number' to suit your workflow and improve kitchen communication.
When an order reaches the KDS, a timer starts automatically. In 'Settings', select 'Alerts and timers', set up to three alerts, pick colours, choose times between 2 – 30 minutes, and enable sound notifications to keep track of preparation times.
Ticket status and updates
KDS tickets move through three stages: 'New', 'Preparing', and 'Completed'. Staff can tap to start or finish orders, recall completed ones if needed, and see real-time updates when items are added or voided. With 'Course management', dishes are grouped by course and auto-collapse when finished.
