What is the difference between ETFs and mutual funds?

ETFs are traded on stock exchanges and can be bought and sold throughout the trading day, while mutual funds are bought and sold at the end of the trading day at the fund's net asset value (NAV). ETFs tend to have lower fees than mutual funds, as they do not require a team of investment professionals to actively manage the fund.
