Legal guardianship
What's a legal guardianship?
A legal guardianship is a legal relationship ruled by a court to protect an individual and all or part of their assets if they’re no longer in a position to look after their own affairs.
A legal guardian represents this person regarding matters of their civil life, such as their personal wellbeing and finances. To make a legal guardianship official, a judge will issue a guardianship order.
After a guardianship order has been granted, the bank account of the individual under legal guardianship can, in principle, only be managed by the guardian.
What must a guardian do if their ward has a Revolut account?
Once a guardianship order is issued, the guardian will need to inform Revolut if the individual under guardianship has an account with Revolut. Send the following to [email protected]:
- A copy of the guardianship order
- A valid official identity document (national ID or passport) of the guardian
- Any other important details or intentions regarding the individual’s Revolut account we should be aware of
