Number porting involves a handover between network providers that often requires a stable connection to local domestic cell towers to activate the new service. Being physically present in your home region ensures your device can communicate correctly with these networks.

If you attempt to transfer your number while abroad, the process might fail or become stuck. To avoid losing access to your mobile service, we recommend waiting until you return home to initiate the transfer.
