Why were my savings from the Savings account transferred back to my main account?

At Revolut, the funds you add to Savings Accounts are managed through a partnership with a bank. The transfer to this bank happens on the next business day, as detailed here

Sometimes, the bank we partner with may decide to not open a deposit account for you or to end its agreement with you. 

There are a few reasons why the bank might end its agreement with you: 

  • If the information you provided when setting up the deposit was incorrect
  • If you become liable for US taxes (under Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act — FATCA) or if this liability becomes known after your account is opened
  • If you’re included on an embargo or sanctions list 
  • If we encounter delays or difficulties in receiving the necessary documents and information from you

If the bank decides to not open a deposit account for you or to end its agreement with you, your money will be sent back to your main Revolut account.
