Understanding mobile plan numbers
Primary number
This is the primary number associated with your mobile plan. It can be a random number or a VIP number of your choosing. It's the number you'll use for calls and texts, and what people will see when you contact them. You can also choose to transfer this number to an external provider.
A random number is one that has been randomly assigned to you free of charge. You can't choose what random number you get. VIP numbers are distinctive numbers featuring specific repetitions and sequences that you can purchase for a fee.
Secondary number
This number is for receiving calls and texts only. You can't use it to make calls or send texts. You can have a maximum of 3 secondary numbers at any given time, including per month. The annual limit is 10 secondary numbers per calendar year.
Each secondary number will cost a monthly add-on fee. Secondary numbers can be terminated independently of your mobile plan. You can also transfer your secondary number to an external mobile provider without terminating your Revolut mobile plan.
Porting in a number
You can transfer your existing number from another provider to Revolut at no cost. You can do this during the plan purchase process and in the 'manage plan' section after purchase. Once the transfer is complete, this number will become the primary number linked to your Revolut mobile plan.
The former primary number — which may be random, VIP, or a previously ported-in number — will be disconnected and replaced by the new ported-in number.
Temporary number
If you choose to transfer your existing phone number to Revolut during purchase, a temporary number will be provided once you purchase your plan. This means you can start using your new plan right away while your transfer is in progress.
The temporary number remains active until your number has been successfully ported in. Once transferred, your original number will be active on your Revolut mobile plan, replacing the temporary one, which will then stop working.
