Why did Revolut get a second EU banking licence in France?

Why does Revolut need a second EU banking licence?

Establishing a second banking licence in France reflects Revolut’s rapid growth, particularly in Western Europe, and is designed to position us closer to our largest and fastest-growing customer base.

This dual-hub structure allows us to deepen our presence in key markets, build greater regulatory relationships, and provide tailored services more effectively to our millions of customers in the region.

With over 50 million customers in the region, this dual-entity approach is simply prudent business practice as we continue growing.

What does this mean for the Lithuanian bank?

Our Lithuanian entity has been, and will remain, a cornerstone of Revolut's European operations. The dual-entity model is designed to strengthen what we have built in Lithuania since receiving our licence in 2021.

Revolut Bank UAB will continue to serve our customers across Central and Eastern Europe, and our product pipeline and investment in Lithuania and the CEE are unchanged.
