What happens if my joint account balance goes negative?

Reasons for a negative balance in your joint account

  • An authorisation payment amount was less than the final amount of the transaction
  • You incur fees for Revolut services
  • A card payment has been delayed

Once your balance becomes negative, we'll notify you in-app. You’ll have 7 business days to add money.

What happens next?

We’ll try to correct the balance automatically by:

  • Taking funds from your personal account
  • Withdrawing funds from your Pockets
  • Taking the equivalent value from money you hold in another currency account
  • Taking the amount you owe from your stored card

We may take these steps for any of the account holders. We'll let you know when the recovery is successful.

We'll never use the money in your joint account to offset an amount owed to us on your personal account.
