Card and contactless payments with the Revolut Reader
You must have an active Merchant account, your identity verification must be completed, and the necessary account permissions must be set up to use Revolut Reader. You can accept payments via the following methods:
- Mastercard and Visa card payments
- Google Pay, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay
- Chip & PIN and contactless payments
Revolut Reader supports the following currencies: AUD, CAD, CHF, DKK, EUR, GBP, HKD, JPY, NOK, NZD, PLN, SEK, USD, HUF, RON and ZAR.
Creating a request with the Revolut Reader
To request a payment:
- Go to 'Merchant' on the main menu
- Click 'New payment'
- Select 'Card reader'
- You'll be prompted to connect to a reader and enter the amount of the payment
When the payment has been authorised, you'll see a confirmation message both on the terminal and within the Revolut Business app. You'll also see an option on the confirmation screen to send the customer a receipt.
Checking the status of the transaction
The status of a transaction will appear both in the mobile app and on the card reader.
In the mobile app:
- A message saying 'Successful' or 'Declined' will be displayed on your screen
- You can view the outcome of this payment within the 'Merchant' menu in the payments list
Once you have processed a payment via the card reader
Funds will appear in your Merchant account 24 hours after the payment is made. To access the money, go to your Merchant account, click 'View payouts' and click 'Payout'. Learn more in this FAQ.
