Is my crypto safe with Revolut?

How does Revolut store my crypto?

  • Your crypto assets stored in Revolut are held with trusted custodians
  • We use some of the most secure methods, such as multi-signature wallets, and the majority of assets are held in cold storage
  • Your assets are held 1:1 and never lent out

For an extra layer of security for your crypto transactions, enable our in-app Wealth Protection feature. Check this FAQ to learn more.

If you have any questions or concerns, reach out to Revolut Support via the in-app chat at any time.

Do I own my crypto in Revolut?

While Revolut customers have beneficial ownership of their cryptocurrency assets, they don't have direct control over the private keys. Nevertheless, Revolut does operate based on your instructions, meaning we execute transactions as requested by the account holder.

We appoint third-party custodians on your behalf who protect the private keys of all Revolut customers. Check this FAQ about private keys and crypto exposure for more information.

What are some of the risks of investing in cryptocurrencies?

  • Regulatory risks: Cryptocurrencies aren't regulated in many regions and don't have protections like other investments might
  • Volatility: Cryptocurrencies are highly volatile and can significantly fluctuate in price, posing substantial risks of loss
  • Scams: The unregulated nature and anonymity of transactions may make it easier for scammers to get away with fraud. Learn more in this blog post on our website

Consider investing only if you're comfortable with the potential risks, including the possibility of losing the full amount. If you're unsure about investing in crypto, it's wise to consult with an authorised and independent financial adviser. We don't endorse or advise on cryptocurrency transactions.
