What is a pre‑authorisation?
Pre-authorisation allows you to place a temporary hold on a customer’s funds without charging them immediately. This ensures the customer has sufficient funds available and protects your business before you fulfill an order.
How do pre-authorisations work?
Unlike regular charges, this setup splits your transaction into two distinct parts: checking and reserving the amount first, then finalising the actual transfer later when you are ready to complete the service. This is useful for:
- Long-term reservations
- Deposits
- Hotel check-ins
- Car rentals
How do I set it up?
Before initiating any holds, the feature must be enabled within the POS application settings.
- Navigate to the 'More' menu on the POS App
- Click on 'Checkout' from the starting page options
- Locate the Pre-authorisation toggle switch
- Toggle the switch to ON (the toggle status color changes to blue)
