Buy bonds in the Revolut app
Trading hours
Trading hours for bonds are 11am–8pm, Gulf Standard Time (GST) Monday to Friday, excluding the UAE public holidays.
Due to daylight saving time (DST), trading for bonds in Central European Time (CET) or Central European Summer Time (CEST) is as follows:
- 8am–5pm CET from last Sunday of October to last Sunday of March
- 9am–6pm CEST from last Sunday of March to last Sunday of October
The DST switch happens overnight from Saturday to Sunday at 2:00am or 3:00am local standard time, depending on whether the change is to or from DST.
Buy bonds
In your Revolut app:
- Go to 'Invest' on the bottom menu
- Tap 'Trade' or 'Discover'
- Choose a particular bond
- Tap 'Buy' to proceed to the order screen
Alternatively, you can discover bonds by using the search box at the top.
You can purchase the minimum amount possible, which is known as the lot. Each lot has a fixed number of underlying bond units. The lot price (in USD or EUR) is equivalent to the minimum currency value you can purchase of that bond. Currently, we only support market orders for bonds.
Bond naming
In the Revolut app, we'll always structure our bond names as follows: issuer — coupon rate — maturity date. Here are some examples.
Example 1. BNP Paribas SA 2.375% 05/24:
- Issuer: BNP Paribas SA
- Coupon rate: 2.375%
- Maturity date: May 2024
Example 2. United States of America 4.5% 11/25:
- Issuer: United States of America
- Coupon rate: 4.5%
- Maturity date: November 2025
