Getting started with eSIM

eSIM allows you to activate a mobile data plan in a specific country from a network provider without having to use a physical SIM card. eSIM is provided by Revolut Ltd.

You can buy a data plan anytime before or during your trip. Your plan activates as soon as you complete your purchase and install your eSIM.

Purchase data plans

  • Go to 'RevPoints' on the bottom menu → 'eSIM' → 'Get data plan'
  • Select a coverage — local for one country, or regional or global for multiple countries
  • Select the data amount
  • Continue to checkout
  • Choose from your RevPoints, account balance, or both to pay for your plan and complete the purchase

The data plan’s validity period starts from the date of purchase, or when your eSIM is ready to be installed if it’s your first purchase. To request a refund, type 'Live agent' in the chat to connect with an agent. You can have up to 15 eSIM data plans, but only one can be used at a time.

Plans appear on the eSIM page in-app, with the most local one taking priority. New plans for the same area activate after the current plan expires. When a plan runs out of data, it moves to 'Expired plans', and the app switches to the next one automatically.

Available countries

To see available countries regionally and globally in-app:

  • Go to 'Lifestyle' on the bottom menu
  • Tap 'eSIM'
  • Tap 'Get data plan'
  • Select 'Global'
  • Tap 'Global' again to see the full list of available countries

Can I access network voice calls and SMS on eSIMs?

Your Revolut eSIM includes global data only. Voice calls and SMS messages aren’t supported, although you can use any messaging or call platform that uses data with your eSIM — e.g. WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, etc.
