How do spare change round ups work?

With spare change round ups, we round up your transactions and stash the difference in your Revolut Pocket or savings account. For example, if you spend 3.80 , we’ll round it up to 4.00 and put 0.20 in your chosen Pocket or savings account.

Spare change round ups allow you to save every time you spend.

Here are a few more examples:

  • You spend 18.60 in the supermarket — we round it up to 19.00 and put 0.40 into your chosen Pocket or savings account
  • You spend 55.40 on new clothes — we round it up to 56.00 and put 0.60 into your chosen Pocket or savings account
  • You spend 7.00 on lunch — we round it up to 8.00 and put 1.00 into your chosen Pocket or savings account

Thanks to these round ups, you'll ‌automatically have saved 2.00 .

You’ll see an option to accelerate your round ups by x1, x2, x3, x4, x5, and x10. This means you can increase your spare change contributions to save even quicker. Round ups are applied to all transactions made using any card linked to your account, even virtual cards.

Spare change Pockets can only be denominated in a single currency. For example, if your main currency is EUR, but your expenses are in a different currency, such as USD, we'll convert the rounded up amount to EUR (the currency of the Pocket). If this conversion happens on a Saturday or Sunday, the weekend fee will be applied. Fair usage and Revolut fees may apply.

For more information about Revolut weekend fees, you can visit this FAQ in our Help Centre.

Pockets aren't savings accounts and don't earn interest. We use the terms 'save', 'saving', 'savings', and similar references here purely to describe the action of setting money aside for future use.
