My virtual card is not working

If you're trying to use your virtual card, and it's not working, you may be trying to carry out an action that virtual cards don't support. See below for more details.

What you can't do with a virtual card

  • Pay at terminals that ask for a PIN
  • Pay via contactless above the allowed limit, usually £50 or equivalent
  • Withdraw cash
  • You can't create more than 4 cards per month

What you can't do with a single-use virtual card

  • Set up recurring card payments, subscriptions, or deposits (e.g. car rentals, hotels)
  • Pay if we suspect the merchant will charge you again
  • Withdraw cash
  • Pay at any terminal that asks for a PIN
  • Add it to Apple Pay or Google Pay

Single-use virtual cards are designed for one-time online transactions. Your single-use card will automatically generate new card details after one use, or after 24 hours. Single-use virtual cards are automatically terminated after making a payment.

You can still receive refunds to your Revolut account even if the single-use virtual card number or regular virtual card is no longer active.
