Applying for a personal loan
Loan eligibility
Revolut offers unsecured UK personal loans of £2,000 to £25,000 over 1–5 years. Loans are in the process of being rolled out to existing customers, so availability may vary until fully rolled out. To be eligible, you need to:
- be living in the UK with right-to-remain
- be aged 18 or over
- have a permanent UK address and UK mobile number
- have opened your Revolut bank account more than 30 days ago
- earn an annual income above £12,000
- not be unemployed
- have a history of managing your finances well (for example, no CCJs)
How to apply for a personal loan
- From the app home screen, tap the search bar and search 'Personal loan'
- Personal loans are in the process of being rolled out, so availability may vary
- Complete the eligibility check to get your personalised offer. This soft search won’t affect your credit score, and you’re not obliged to apply
- If approved, you may need to provide additional documents to finalise the offer
- Review the offer, sign the legal agreement, and complete final checks
- We'll run a credit check, and your funds will be paid into your Revolut account instantly after approval
An eligibility check is a soft search that won't affect your credit score or be seen by other lenders. We run this first because full applications require a hard search, and too many hard searches in a short time can lower your credit score.
Why is my interest rate different to the advertised rate?
The advertised rate (also known as the Representative APR or Representative Annual Percentage Rate) is a standardised way to display the cost of a credit product and allows you to easily compare the cost across products and different providers.
When you submit your eligibility check, we create your personal interest rate which is based on your individual circumstances and credit history. This may be different to the advertised rate, but once your personalised rate is ready, you’ll be able to review the loan and decide whether to proceed.
APR shows the yearly cost of borrowing and includes standard fees. Revolut doesn’t charge fees but APR and interest rate can differ slightly because interest is calculated daily while repayments are made monthly.
What can I use my loan for?
A personal loan can provide a fixed lump sum for things like a car, home improvements, debt consolidation, or a wedding. Your rate and scheduled repayments stay fixed, making it easier to plan your budget. Personal loans can’t be used for:
- Buying property or land
- Business purposes
- Gambling
- Paying for stocks, shares, cryptocurrency, and other investments
- Anything illegal
If you're planning to use the loan to consolidate debts, you should consider whether the length of borrowing and interest rate could mean you pay more overall. If you want more flexible borrowing and repayments, there may be other options that may be more suitable such as credit cards or overdrafts.
