Reasons an investment account may be closed
We may need to suspend or close your investment account for different reasons.
Reasons for investment account closure or suspension
- Breach of our Terms of Business: if we become aware that you've breached our Terms of Business, we may suspend or terminate your investment account on a temporary or permanent basis
- Insufficient information: if you don't provide the information we need to comply with our regulatory reporting requirements (normally requested via the Revolut app and email), we may temporarily restrict — or even close — your investment account
- Unsupported country: if the country where you're living is in a jurisdiction that our trading entity is unable to provide trading services to, we'll have to close your investment account. To find out which of our entities is providing you with services, read this FAQ
Account closure process
If we have to close your investment account, you'll have a 60-day notice period to allow you to close any open positions prior to the closure of your account. During this 60-day notice period, you won’t be able to submit any new buy orders.
If you haven't closed all your open positions within this period, we'll liquidate your investment account on your behalf at the next available opportunity.
Once the liquidation orders have settled, any proceeds from the sale or liquidation of your instruments will be transferred to your main Revolut account. Read this FAQ to learn more about the settlement process and its timeframes. If you’d like to close your investment account, read this article.
