How extended hours trading works
Extended hours trading is trading that occurs outside of regular trading hours. Only US stocks and ETFs on the platform are eligible for extended hours trading.
Regular trading hours for stock exchanges in the US are Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 4.00pm Eastern Time (ET) except for market holidays.
Extended hours trading occurs outside those hours — from 4.00am to 9.30am (ET) for pre-market and 4.00pm to 8.00pm (ET) for after-hours trading.
Order execution
Execution depends on a number of factors. During extended hours trading, the more illiquid a security is, the greater the likelihood of partial or no executions, volatility, and wider bid-ask spreads. Read this FAQ to learn more about the associated risks.
All order types can be placed and queued at any time, however, only limit orders are eligible for execution in extended hours. To find out about the order types, go to this FAQ.
Market orders placed outside regular trading hours will be queued for execution on the next trading day.
