Tap to Pay fails to read a contactless card
The performance of contactless cards can vary based on the card design, such as the card material or the location of the antenna. As a result, some cards connect more easily than others.
Trouble accepting a contactless payment
- Ask the customer to hold their contactless payment card directly on your iPhone, lining the chip up with the edge of the tap area for several seconds
- If the card still doesn't read, ask the customer to slide the chip directly over the notch on your device
- If your iPhone doesn't update or provide an error message, the card might be damaged, or might not work with contactless payments
If your iPhone says 'Try a different card'
- The customer's card isn't supported
- Revolut supports payments from Mastercard, Visa, and American Express debit and credit cards, as well as Apple Pay, Google Pay, and other digital wallets
To use Tap to Pay on iPhone, you must have the 'Create in-store payments' permission assigned to your profile (if you're not on the new app interface, you must have the 'Manage Sales' permission). Ask your business owner or account admin to assign the correct permissions to your profile.
