How can I prevent fraud?
Best practices to keep your money safe
To offer you peace of mind and ensuring your money is safe, we strongly recommend you to use these best practices when shopping online:
- Be suspicious of 'too good to be true' offers or prices
- Shop with reputable and reliable retailers
- Never share your PINs, passwords, one-time passcodes over the phone or via an online chat support
- Check online reviews to verify if the website is authentic and the seller's credible. Insist on inspecting high-value items in person or via video and request documentation to confirm ownership
- Try to access the website you’re buying from by typing it into your web browser. Don’t follow links in unsolicited emails or texts
- Make sure you successfully log out or sign out of any website accounts
- Pay attention when merchants ask you to pay by money transfer instead of card payment
- If you receive a message from Revolut stating that the payee details don't match, pause the transaction and look into it
Security measures to keep your external bank account safe:
- Keep your operating system up to date
- Log off when you finish using your bank app
- Lock your device using a PIN or biometrics
- Use trusted and reliable sources when downloading
- Use secure networks that begin with HTTPS
- Make sure you have a strong password with numbers and special characters
- Regularly change your passcode
- Don't use your personal details in your passwords or card PIN
- Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) when available
- Don't share login details
