Do I have to pay for my trip using my Revolut account?

To be protected, you must have an active Revolut Premium, Metal, or Ultra plan at the time of booking your trip and use your account to pay for your accommodation and the main commercial or public transport to and from your destination. Payments eligible for cover include:

  • Revolut debit, credit, or virtual card payments
  • A transfer from your Revolut account to a travel supplier
  • Use of RevPoints or Airline Miles purchased with RevPoints
  • Payment using a Joint account

Your plan must remain active (without interruption) from when you book your trip to when you travel. If you downgrade your plan in the meantime, or booked the trip before upgrading, it will not be covered. Have a trip coming up? Check whether it might be covered with this form.

What does main commercial or public transport mean?

Main commercial or public transport includes planes, coaches, and trains for more than 50% of your total journey. This doesn't include travel by car rental, ride-sharing, taxis or local public transport like local buses.

Is my trip covered if I don't pay with Revolut?

You must use your Revolut account to pay for your accommodation and the main commercial or public transport to and from your destination. If you don't pay for either of these with your Revolut account, your trip will not be eligible for cover.

Cover may be extended in some circumstances at the discretion of our insurance partner. For example, if you're driving to your destination but paid for your accommodation with your Revolut account, or if you're staying with a friend but paid for your flights with your Revolut account.

If you upgraded your plan on or before 5 November 2024, trips booked before 5 January 2025 are eligible for cover under the previous terms (even if purchased with a non-Revolut account). If you have any doubts regarding the cover, contact XCover through this contact page.

Is my trip covered if someone else booked the trip?

You'll need to provide proof of payment for the trip from your Revolut account. This could be a Revolut transfer from you to the trip organiser for your transport and accommodation costs.

The trip organiser must also have an active Premium, Metal, or Ultra plan at the time of booking the trip that must remain active (without interruption) until the end of the trip.
