What happens during account switch

What to expect during your switch

After submitting your request, we'll keep you updated on its progress in the app. You may see statuses such as: submitted, request accepted, payments review, migration in progress, and completed.

During this period, you can continue using your previous bank account. We recommend keeping enough money in your old account until all recurring payments have been successfully moved as some organisations may take time to update your payment details after being notified.

How does Joint account switching work?

Joint account switching requires approval from the other account holder.

The other account holder will receive a request in their Revolut app to review and approve the transition.

If approval is required and isn't provided, the switch request can't proceed. You'll be informed of the action required during the process.

Why was my request rejected?

A request may be rejected for several reasons, including: 1) the account information provided doesn't match the bank's records, 2) the account isn't eligible for switching, 3) required approval wasn't provided, and 4) the current bank couldn't process the request.

Where available, we'll show the reason for rejection in the app. If your request is rejected, you can review the information provided and submit a new request if appropriate.

If the reason remains unclear, reach out to the bank that rejected the switch.

Do I need to close my old account?

Account switching helps move your recurring payments and banking activity to Revolut, but most times your old account can't be closed automatically.

Once you've confirmed that all payments have been successfully moved, you'll need to contact your previous bank directly to close the account if you no longer wish to use it.

Before closing the account, make sure that no payments are still being sent to the old account and the remaining balance has been transferred.
