Getting an Italian IBAN

Revolut has initiated a migration process from Lithuanian IBANs to Italian IBANs for customers who hold a retail bank account (business accounts are excluded) and are resident in Italy. Once complete, customers will receive an Italian IBAN without any additional cost. An Italian IBAN allows you to:

  • Receive your salary directly into your Revolut account
  • Make payments via Direct Debit and pay utility providers
  • Avoid additional paperwork often required for non-Italian IBANs when using your Revolut account for other purposes

All products and functionalities associated with your previous Lithuanian account (for example, debit cards, RevPoints, plan subscription, and cash withdrawal limits) will continue to work exactly as before, without any changes or action required.

Eligibility criteria

Once you're eligible to migrate, you'll receive a notification in the Revolut app and by email and will be able to start the process. To receive the invitation to migrate, you need to meet some specific requirements, including but not limited to:

  • Hold a retail Revolut account with a Lithuanian IBAN opened as an Italian resident
  • Have the latest version of the Revolut app
  • Maintain a positive balance in your account
  • Your personal information and documents linked to your account must be up to date

If you have not received the invitation, it means that at the current time you do not satisfy one or more eligibility criteria. Revolut checks eligibility criteria on a weekly basis: should you subsequently satisfy all the necessary requirements, you will receive the invitation to migrate.

Migration process

As of March 2026, all eligible customers have received the communication to migrate. If the process has not started for you, double-check that you meet all the requirements mentioned above.

In most cases, once a customer has received the invitation, expressed their wish to continue with the migration, submitted the necessary data and documents, and signed the T&Cs, the migration process will be completed within 24 hours.

If we are required by law to request and validate additional information, we won't be able to migrate the customer until all the requests are fulfilled and verified by us. Once all the additional information is received and verified fully, the migration process will be completed within 24 hours.

Key information

  • If you have a non-Italian Revolut account (such as a UK account), you won’t be able to migrate to the Italian branch regardless of your nationality. If you want to obtain an Italian IBAN, you will need to close your previous account and then open a different one as an Italian resident
  • Migration is final once customers opt-in and can't be reversed
  • There's no set deadline to opt-in. Once the option becomes available, you can opt-in at any time via the Revolut app. You'll receive notifications when it's possible to migrate
  • Migration for business accounts is not available yet
