Why have I received a CU from Revolut?

According to Italian law, a 20% withholding tax is applied when you receive a reward, such as for signing up or referring a friend. You need to report this income on your tax return. To do so, you'll receive a certificazione unica (CU) form from Revolut on your Agenzia delle Entrate account.

How does it work?

The withholding tax is applied using the same process used for self-employment income, although this income is classified as miscellaneous income. For this reason, the CU form you'll receive in relation to the reward may show information in a format similar to self-employment income.

This is only a technical reporting requirement and doesn't mean you're considered a self-employed professional.

How can I retrieve my CU?

We do not provide CU documents directly to our customers. Instead, we submit the financial details directly to the tax agency. You can obtain the official document directly from the Agenzia delle Entrate website:

  • Log in to the Agenzia delle Entrate portal
  • Access your 'Cassetto Fiscale (Tax Drawer)'
  • Navigate to the 'Certificazione Unica' section
  • You should see the CU filed by Revolut Bank UAB — click to download the full document

However, if you notice any discrepancies in the document you receive from the tax agency, feel free to reach out to us so we can look into it for you.
