How do I submit my My Number information?

Why do I need to provide My Number information to Revolut?

As a regulated financial institution (registered as a funds transfer service provider) in Japan, we're required to collect My Number information from customers that want to send or receive money overseas or make donations.

Without submitting your My Number, you can't send or receive overseas transfers, including transfers between Revolut customers and bank transfers. Submit your My Number information to activate all of our in-app features.

This is regulated by the Act on Submission of Statement of Overseas Wire Transfers for Purpose of Securing Proper Domestic Taxation (内国税の適正な課税の確保を図るための国外送金等に係る調書の提出等に関する法律, often abbreviated to 国外送金等調書法).

How do I submit the My Number document?

You can submit your My Number document either by using this link, or tapping the notification you receive when your transfer fails.

Supported documents

To verify your My Number information, we accept any of the following:

For more details on how to obtain each document, refer to the My Number Card website (Japanese / English) or visit your nearest city hall.

Differences between the documents

While the My Number Card is a plastic photo ID card, and it can be used for identity verification (Japanese nationality only), the My Number Notification Card and Residence Certificate don’t have a photo and can't be used as photo ID.

If you want to submit a My Number Notification Card or Residence Certificate, you need to submit it along with your main photo ID (driving licence, residence card, or special permanent residence certificate, depending on your nationality).

My Number verification is pending

We always aim to finalise your My Number verification as soon as possible. The process usually takes a couple of hours but may take up to a few business days. We appreciate your patience.
