How are funds in my Instant Access Savings protected?
Where are my savings held and how can I check?
Your savings are either directly by us or in a Trust Account that we hold with Deutsche Bank. The Revolut app will always show you which bank is currently holding your savings. You can also view and download deposit protection documents directly within the app.
You can check where your savings are held at any time in the Revolut app by going to your Instant Access Savings account and tapping 'Info'. The decision to hold your savings with us or Deutsche Bank is dependent on your country of residence, your subscription plan, and when your account was opened.
If there are any changes to where your savings are held, you'll be notified both in-app and by email, as per the applicable Instant Access Savings Terms.
How does it work?
If your money is held with Deutsche Bank, it's held separately from our own business funds, meaning it's held in a separate account to any other accounts we may hold with Deutsche Bank and is not related to our Trust Account for Instant Access Savings.
If held with Deutsche Bank, your savings will be held in a Trust Account with savings from other Revolut customers. This is simply part of how a standard shared/pooled Trust Account works with Deutsche Bank.
Because all the money is held together, the total pool of funds is used to manage all deposits and withdrawals efficiently, but your money is never given to, or used by, other customers. Revolut and Deutsche Bank keep detailed internal records so your Revolut app can show your correct balance daily.
How are my savings protected?
Your savings are always covered up to €100,000 per person by a deposit guarantee scheme. This is a form of insurance for your deposits.
For savings held with Deutsche Bank, the money is kept completely separate from ours and insured by Germany’s deposit guarantee scheme up to €100,000 per person.
For savings held with Revolut, your money is protected by the Lithuanian Deposit Guarantee Scheme up to €100,000 per person, as explained in section 7 of the Instant Access Savings Terms.
Where can I find the deposit guarantee information?
If your savings are held with Deutsche Bank, you confirm that you have received, read, and understood the standard information for the statutory German Deposit Guarantee Act (EinSiG) and the Entschädigungseinrichtung deutscher Banken GmbH (EDB), available on this page.
For savings held with Revolut, please see section 7 of the Instant Access Savings T&Cs. The Lithuanian Deposit Guarantee Scheme information is also available on this page.
When you accept these terms, you’re confirming you’ve reviewed the information sheet for the applicable scheme. For more information see this FAQ.
