Information needed to open an investment account
During the sign-up process for stock trading, you'll need to answer multiple questions and provide some information for regulatory purposes, including (but not limited to):
- Confirm you aren’t a US citizen/resident
- Provide your national ID (NIN) based on your first nationality
- Provide an occupation close to your current job
- Confirm if you’re affiliated with a financial institution
- Your TIN must match your country of residence
If you don’t have a TIN, you’re a student, or your tax residency doesn’t match your Revolut account, you can’t open an investment account. If your residence differs from your nationality, we’ll request a reporting number (TIN or national ID) as required by regulations.
Why was my investment account application declined?
Your investment account application may be rejected or delayed in the following circumstances:
- Ensure your TIN matches the one in your Revolut account to avoid rejection
- Expect extra checks before we approve your new sign-up if you’ve had an investment account with us before
- Learn more about TIN requirements in this FAQ from our help centre
Contact us via chat in the Revolut app if your investment account verification is pending for longer than 2 business days.
